NOTI-GENETICS: Constants in the EGFR gene and KRA

A recently published study (S. Sakata-2022) made in a japanese population, using a panel of next-generation sequencing (NGS), we examined > 300 adenocarcinomas of the lung, identified in approximately half of the cases, variants constants in the genes EGFR and KRAS, which provides useful information to study and identify variants in these genes in patients with lung adenocarcinomas.

On the other hand we also found that variants in the genes ALK, ROS1, and BRAF, and in some cases also of EGFR and KRAS were highly polymorphic. Concluding that the panels multigénicos have a greater chance of identifying the variants due to the large heterogeneity of certain types of cancer.

As we understand better the molecular changes that occur in different types of cancer, are better defined the strategies of genomic analyses and knowing the origin in each patient, leading to a personalized medicine precision.
