De ellos depende en gran medida nuestra salud, pues se encargan de decirle a las c\u00e9lulas de nuestro cuerpo c\u00f3mo comportarse. Cuando nuestros genes mutan el comportamiento de las c\u00e9lulas se descontrola y esto puede generar m\u00faltiples enfermedades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHagamos el comparativo de la gen\u00e9tica como una palabra que se compone de muchas letras (las letras representan los genes) en algunas ocasiones podremos cambiar las letras sin afectar el entendimiento de la palabra. En otras, cambiar una letra en un punto espec\u00edfico alterar\u00e1 por completo el sentido de la palabra; lo mismo les pasa a nuestras c\u00e9lulas, cuando un gen cambia de tal forma que es imposible comprender lo que est\u00e1 pasando las c\u00e9lulas tienden a enfermarse.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las enfermedades con causas gen\u00e9ticas pueden presentarse en distintas etapas de nuestra vida, podemos nacer con ellas o desarrollarlas desde la ni\u00f1ez hasta que somos adultos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nuestros genes pueden mutar por diversos factores, es posible que lo hagan de forma natural o como consecuencia de los factores epigen\u00e9ticos. Estos factores incluyen la forma en que vivimos, lo que comemos, a que nos exponemos etc.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aunque no vayamos de forma directa con el m\u00e9dico genetista, la gen\u00e9tica acompa\u00f1a nuestra vida desde antes de nacer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Existen algunas pruebas que se hacen las parejas antes de tener hijos para saber sus riesgos gen\u00e9ticos. Cuando nacemos, nos hacen una prueba llamada \u201cTamiz\u201d para saber que tan propensos somos a desarrollar ciertas enfermedades. Por esta raz\u00f3n es un \u00e1rea muy importante para lograr diagn\u00f3sticos oportunos de c\u00e1ncer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al hablar de c\u00e1ncer nos referimos a un grupo de enfermedades muy complejas que se comportan de manera diferente, pero que comparten un principio \u201cla base inicial de la enfermedad es un cambio en la informaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica del tejido afectado\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En la mayor\u00eda de los casos de c\u00e1ncer los genes se alteran por factores externos, sin embargo, tambi\u00e9n existe el c\u00e1ncer hereditario. En ambos la gen\u00e9tica tiene un papel de medicina predictiva, nos ayuda a conocer qu\u00e9 genes o variantes gen\u00e9ticas pueden propiciar c\u00e1ncer o como va evolucionando la enfermedad.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La gen\u00e9tica tambi\u00e9n puede ayudarnos a interpretar c\u00f3mo responden las c\u00e9lulas a los tratamientos oncol\u00f3gicos.
